SafeCare4COVID is a free digital self-assessment tool developed by PharmAccess to help healthcare facilities in Africa assess their COVID-19 preparedness. Based on WHO guidelines and quality improvement methods, the app targets primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare facilities. It was fine-tuned with input from healthcare staff in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and Tanzania before its rollout. Facilities use the app to evaluate their preparedness, receive evidence-based guidance through educational resources in multiple languages, and access a customized quality improvement plan (QIP). The app collects and shares anonymized data with stakeholders via dashboards to support informed decision-making. SafeCare4COVID is an adaptation of the internationally accredited SafeCare standards, promoting ongoing quality improvements in healthcare across low- and middle-income countries.
