TB eLMIS is a centralized, web-based platform developed for managing tuberculosis (TB) logistics in Bangladesh. It facilitates real-time tracking, reporting, and planning of TB commodities such as anti-TB medicines and laboratory supplies across various administrative levels. By replacing fragmented and manual systems, TB eLMIS enhances stock visibility, transparency, and enables data-driven decision-making for forecasting, procurement, and distribution. This leads to decreased stockouts, reduced waste, and overall improvement of the TB supply chain. The system aims for nationwide logistics management, better forecasting accuracy, and a complete transition to modernized practices, targeting the general population and focusing on health areas such as tuberculosis, primary healthcare and communicable diseases.
Challenges include limited skilled personnel for data entry and logistics management, inconsistent internet connectivity at peripheral facilities, delayed and incomplete reporting, and resistance to adopting digital systems. Coordination across multiple stakeholders and facilities also affects data standardization and timely decision-making.
Strong government ownership through NTP and MIS, DGHS, along with early engagement of stakeholders at central, district, and facility levels, significantly supported adoption and coordination. Standardized workflows for reporting, indenting, and stock management improved data consistency across all levels. Regular training, refresher sessions, and user support helped build capacity and encouraged system use.
Use of real-time dashboards and automated reports enabled timely, data-driven decision-making for forecasting and distribution planning. Phased nationwide rollout allowed gradual adaptation and issue resolution. Integration with the broader DGHS eLMIS framework supports scalability, while ongoing capacity building and local technical support are critical for long-term sustainability.
