Summary
The ShiVent is an innovative, cost-effective, and non-invasive ventilator designed for patients experiencing breathing difficulties, especially in low-resource environments during events like COVID-19. Based on Bubble CPAP principles, it uses a combination of oxygen and air to facilitate easier breathing. The device is notably simple to use, requiring only 30 minutes of training, and is cheaper to produce than traditional mechanical ventilators. It operates without electricity and is significantly more oxygen-efficient, consuming only one-third of the resources compared to typical high-flow systems. Additionally, the ShiVent features a Bluetooth oximeter and an accompanying support platform for safe implementation and patient monitoring, making it an ideal solution for regions with limited medical resources and specialist training. Its focus extends across various health areas, including communicable and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
