Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, and diabetes, represent 68% of global deaths and are increasingly prevalent in low- and middle-income countries. The growing access to mobile phones presents an opportunity for utilizing this technology to collect NCD data. Mobile phone surveys can improve the efficiency and accuracy of monitoring trends in NCDs. The Surveda application, an open-source multi-modal phone survey tool, has been employed for this purpose. It offers a flexible platform that supports mixed-modal surveys, ensures data privacy, enhances user experience, allows both local and cloud hosting, and contributes to the open-source community, particularly focusing on health-related areas including NCDs.
