Summary
The Endopelvic Trainer is a comprehensive laparoscopic training station designed to enhance the skills of doctors in laparoscopic surgery. With the increasing emphasis on training outside the operating room, laparoscopic education often occurs in simulation environments. Although virtual reality surgical simulations can accelerate the acquisition of surgical skills, their high costs—often exceeding USD 100,000—pose a barrier. In contrast, the Endopelvic Trainer aims to provide a low-cost solution for laparoscopic training in Africa, priced at under $2,000. This is the inaugural version of the trainer, with plans for a second iteration that will incorporate Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
