Algoritmos Clínicos
Origin language: English
"Algoritmos Clínicos" (algoritmos.app) presents clinical practice guidelines as interactive decision trees that assist clinicians at the point of care, particularly in critical settings like emergency departments where specialist support may be lacking. This platform allows clinicians to follow clear, step-by-step pathways based on patient-specific information (such as symptoms and risk factors) that link directly to evidence-based actions (like ordering tests or escalating care). By providing an accessible and user-friendly interface, Algoritmos Clínicos enhances decision-making speed and consistency, making guideline logic clear and actionable. It supports the rapid and widespread deployment of evidence-based guidelines across various health settings, catering to healthcare professionals in both urban and rural areas, ultimately aiming to improve routine and emergency care across diverse populations.
As this is currently a privately funded project, securing ongoing financing remains a challenge until a sustainable business model is established. This limitation affects how quickly we can advance both corrective maintenance and further development of the platform.
A key best practice in the development of Algoritmos.app has been its close alignment with real clinical needs. The platform originated from the need to provide emergency physicians with rapid, bedside access to structured decision trees, enabling fast, consistent, and evidence-based actions in high-pressure care settings.
As use of the platform grew, emergency clinicians requested additional features and new clinical workflows, reflecting the practical value of being able to access complex decision pathways directly from mobile devices. This clinician-driven and user-informed development process has been central to the platform’s evolution and has helped ensure that the solution remains closely aligned with everyday clinical practice.
