The Malawi Health Data Lake is a central repository that integrates data from over 740 health facilities, which includes 233 point-of-care sites and 517 emastercard locations, as well as vital civil statistics such as birth and death registrations. It employs ETL processes to merge historical and current data, generating daily updates from MySQL databases at point-of-care facilities. This data is transferred to the Department of HIV's central server for processing and storage in an Analytics platform powered by Postgres. The data lake supports HIV program clinicians by identifying patient trends, aiding in improved care decisions, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) such as treatment adherence and operational efficiency. The focus areas of this health data include communicable diseases, maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), cancer, and others.
