Summary
Vietnam has established a national immunization information system (NIIS), initially named ImmReg, becoming a pioneer among low-middle-income countries. The NIIS is now used in 99.8% of healthcare facilities and has registered over 20 million children and women, resulting in notable improvements in immunization coverage and vaccination timeliness. However, health workers still juggle the NIIS alongside traditional paper-based systems, adding to their workload. A new initiative is underway to assist Hanoi and Son La in moving towards a paperless reporting system to ease this burden. Key health focus areas include maternal and child health, vaccination/immunization, and others.
